My first finished art of 2013!

Actually, it's a reworking of a piece I did waaaay back in 1999, which you can see here [link] and inspired by a watercolor drawing of Lum from Urusei Yatsura by her creator, Takahashi Rumiko.

I took the pose, changed the outfit colors, and set the scene during a suddenly-erupting windstorm that threatens to turn into a raging thunderstorm.

I'd always wanted to rework the art in my original drawing, though, to "beef up" her physique a bit. My original thought was to redraw the pic entirely; but I found a certain charm in the original drawing that I feared I wouldn't be able to capture in a redraw, so I simply altered the original drawing where needed (bigger arms, wider hips) and resized the pic so it could be sold as a print. (I also added a cooler in the grasp of her right hand, since the added height resulted in more of the arm being visible.)

Now I need to do a totally-new drawing for 2013!
