TCC = Tetsuko Cosplay Calendar

Hey, it's a two-fer! A TCC and a peril picture!

In a way, this was one of the most difficult TCCs to produce. Finding a rubber snake that big was not easy! And when we did find one, we had to put a hefty deposit down on it. I wanted to put fake blood on the snake, but I didn't want to do anything that might damage the snake. Heck, we've already lost the deposit on that armband that Tetsuko accidentally broke when she flexed her bicep.

Seriously: this was one of the more difficult and time-consuming pieces of artwork I've done. All those scales on that damn snake! And the splashing water…

But it is one of the pieces I'm proudest of in how it turned out. The seed for it was planted just last month, when a commenter on the "Tetsuko as Phantom Lady" calendar suggested another Golden Age comics legend, namely Sheena, Queen of the Jungle. The true inspiration came, however, when I found a blog covering "Men's Adventure Magazines" and found the cover for Peril, December 1958. I saw that and said "Dayum! That would make a great basis for a Sheena TCC!" As you can see, I copied the snake and the pose, and put in Tetsuko in a Sheena costume. I honestly couldn't tell if that was supposed to be water in which the woman is fighting that snake in the original illustration; I decided it was, and put Tetsuko in even deeper water than the original. (And more splashes.)

I'd love to be able to credit the original artist for such wonderful inspiration, but alas, nobody seems to know who did it!

I have no idea who owns the copyright on Sheena, Queen of the Jungle.

UPDATE: Uh oh, I just noticed I forgot to finish the bracelets on her left arm! Well, I'll replace this with the updated version when it's done. Fixed!
